I haven't fully tested but it seems to work for the most part. But when you create the annotation reference planes in the model host family directly it provides the grips when loaded into a project. In the opening post I had the reference levels in the annotation family and it seems that when it got nested into the model host family it will not provide the grips. When I load this family into a project as per the attached it gives me the handles to move the annotation without moving the model elements. I then brought in the receptacle annotation symbol and locked it to the strong reference planes. Within this host family I created 4 reference planes for the annotation offset and set 2 of them as strong reference as per an article that I had previously seen on a google search. In the attached file I created a simple extrusion using a wall based electrical fixture template.

In the opening post I had a family that had several nest levels. I'm not sure I follow when you say the annotation moves within the GA family if you could post a sample of what you mean I would be grateful.Īlso, I made some modifications to my original post. Couldn't bring the regular file under the limit. Revit Anno Family Zip.zippĪpologize about the compressed file. But I'm not getting the grips when I load the family into a project as shown on the attached file.
OFFSET PLASTER RING TRIAL
When the anno symbol was created it was done using strong reference lines, it was my understanding that by doing so there would be grips provided that would allow to move the anno symbol via the grips vs typing in offset parameters which is trial and error as to how much to offset. This part works well but I'm trying to take it one step further. I have added offset parameters to the symbol so I can shift the annotation symbol both left/right as well as away from the wall such that when there are model devices stacked on top of each other I can move the annotation symbol without moving the model. I then have the receptacle symbol nested into the host family. The intent is to be able to load into a project a box that has conduit knockouts and still get the visual of a receptacle when looking at elevations. I patched together an electrical 4 square box, plaster ring, and receptacle face into one family (all downloaded from BimObject). First post and was hoping someone could look at the attached and take it a step further.
